Mississippi State Meet 2015 Recap - DyeStat

Monica Mosley breaks 300 hurdles record

 

State Meet Highlights

 

- Sophomore Demi Washington of Clinton won the 100 meters in 11.97 to take her second 6A title in the event. She was also second in the 200 with 24.92.

- Justice Sims of Clinton won the 6A girls 200 meters in 24.53 and was second in the 100 with 12.21.

- Catera Thomas of Jim Hill won the 6A girls 400 meters in 55.86.

- Monica Mosley of Clinton swept the hurdles events in 6A with winning times of 14.42 and a state record 41.87 (US#15). Clinton also swept the relay races and rolled to the girls team title.

- Nay Strickland of Desoto Central won the long jump (18-9.50) and the triple jump (40-4.50) in the 6A meet.

- Kate Mattox, sophomore from Starkville, swept the 6A 1,600 and 3,200 without any trouble.

- Lorenzen Burton of Olive Branch carried his school to the team title with victories in the 200 (22.23) and the 400 (48.48). He was also won winning 4x100 and 4x200 teams.

- Deshaven Flowers of Greenville won the 6A long jump (23-6.50) and the high jump (6-4).

- Keiyana Gaskin of Vicksburg won the 5A girls 100 (12.08) and 200 (24.83).

- Leon Miles of Vicksburg swept the 5A boys hurdles with 14.79 and 38.08.

- Shelby McEwen of Oxford -- who gained fame with a viral dunk video -- won the 5A boys high jump with 7-0. Oxford also won the team title.

- Antares Gwyn of Corinth edged Eric Richards of Raymond in the 4A high jump. After both cleared 6-10, Gwyn won on fewer misses at earlier heights. Both are juniors.

- Sophomore Syerie Moton of NE Lauderdale won the 4A 100 and 200 with 12.05 and 25.64. 

- Senior Jada Hunt of Franklin County won the 100, 200 and long jump in the 3A meet.

- Milton Harrell from Tylertown won the 3A high jump with 7-0 clearance. Tylertown won the 3A team title.

- Ashley Henderson of North Forrest swept the 2A sprints for the second year in a row with 12.33/25.31/59.97. She also won the triple jump with 36-10.75.

- Freshman Cameron Crump of Strayhorn won the 2A long jump with 23-0.75. He was also second in the 100 (11.28), second in the 200 (22.81) and fourth in the 400 (53.26).

- Demichael Harris of St. Aloysius tripled 10.75/21.82/48.52 to dominate the sprints in the 1A meet. St. Aloysius swept the team titles.
